Brooklyn Center Arts and IB World School offers an innovative and comprehensive education “where arts, academics, and global perspectives share center stage.” Located in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, our school provides a unique educational experience through a combination of an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP, all students grades 6 - 10), Diploma Programme (IB DP, program within a school for grades 11 and 12), and a comprehensive Arts Magnet Program offering visual, performing, literary, and media arts opportunities for all students in grades 6-12. Through a rigorous and relevant curriculum in the arts and IB, students are encouraged to become balanced learners who think critically, communicate effectively in different languages and artistic mediums, and act responsibly in their local and global communities.

Students in grades 6 – 12 also have the opportunity to participate in the college-readiness AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, which is designed to help traditionally underserved populations in the academic middle achieve entrance and readiness for their post-secondary education. We believe that raising student expectations, directly teaching study and organization skills, and providing curricular support will help make the college dream accessible to all students.

Students choose to attend our school for its cutting-edge comprehensive arts and IB program, as well as for the small school, personalized learning environment, caring community feel, and diversity of the student body. In each of the last five years, our school has earned the Magnet Schools of America award of Excellence or Distinction. Evidence that our school has earned a national and international reputation is apparent as visitors have come from as far as Louisiana, the United Kingdom, and India to learn more about the success of our program. The level of academic rigor in the IB Programmes, along with the additional requirements meant to foster intellectual curiosity, independent research skills, action, and service, will aid our students in preparing to be global citizens and successful in college, their careers, and the arts.
