Next principal hired for Earle Brown Elementary

Randy Koch has been selected as the next principal of Earle Brown Elementary (EBE). Koch is a passionate school leader focused on developing relationships and connections with students, staff and families. Koch is replacing Callie Lalugba, who resigned from the position effective June 30, 2018.

“Randy believes so strongly in the potential of Earle Brown Elementary and the need to partner with families to create an environment where students thrive,” said superintendent Carly Baker. “He is a leader focused on relationships and he has devoted the lion's share of his career to the development of Earle Brown.”

Koch is currently the principal of the Early College Academy in Brooklyn Center Community Schools, where he has served since May 2013. Before that, Randy was a member of the EBE community for 28 years, as principal for 17 years, interim assistant principal for one year, principal on special assignment for one year and a classroom teacher for nine years. Koch has worked in our district for 33 years.

“Going back to Earle Brown, where I started my career, I feel like I’m coming home, to a place I’ve always loved,” Koch said. “I want to create a school environment that is focused on building relationships and trust between students, families and staff. Our students deserve a school experience that is focused on their success. Our staff members should have the opportunity to work in a wonderful place they’re excited to go to every day. Our families will benefit from a school that is committed to their child’s education.”

Koch will begin his new position on July 1, 2018. There will be opportunities for EBE families to meet with Koch prior to the start of the school year. More information will be shared after dates are scheduled.
