State Tournament Attendance Policy

This policy pertains only to state tournaments. Students will not be released to attend tournaments that precede the state tournament. Events such as subsections, sections or other qualifying rounds are not considered the "State Tournament."
Only managers, cheerleaders, varsity and junior varsity athletes will be allowed to attend a state tournament and that tournament can only be in the sport in which they participate.
Pre-approved parent permission slips will be required. They will be available in the activity office. The signed parent permission slip must be returned to the activity office by 7:30 a.m. on the morning of the day the student wishes to be dismissed.
Telephone contacts will not be allowed.
Proof of attendance will be required by one of the following ways:

By a Brooklyn Center staff member taking attendance at the event.
By the student returning a ticket stub the next morning after the event to the activity office by 7:30 a.m.
The student shows a ticket purchased ahead of time. (Failure to follow the above procedures will result in the student receiving an unexcused absence).

Students must check out of school at the attendance office as they leave the building unless it has been announced that it is not necessary due to the large number being released at once.
The actual time that students can be dismissed will be established by the school district to allow for a safe trip and yet being sensitive to school work.
